Peter Baer
Founder & CEO
Mr. Baer has spent over 30 years investing in Southern California’s real estate market. As Founder and CEO of Strategic Acquisitions, Inc. (SAI), Mr. Baer combines a conservative approach to buying with an experienced professional team composed of more than 180 employees which is backed by the latest in technological support. Under his direction and management, SAI has become one of the premier acquisition companies buying distressed assets at courthouse auctions and via open-market transactions in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura and San Diego counties. Mr. Baer has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Architecture and Mathematics.
Tom Lavardera
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Lavardera oversees all aspects of financial accounting. He brings over 25 years of experience in finance; accounting; operational and financial planning; cost and internal controls; GAAP reporting; risk management; strategic business analysis; and investment analysis. Before moving to California, Mr. Lavardera was the CEO/CFO of one of New York State’s largest security firms. In addition, he has served for over 10 years as Assistant Controller/Financial Systems Analyst for St. John’s University in New York, where he also graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Mr. Lavardera is a proven team leader with a track record of guiding and motivating large multi-disciplined teams to exceed corporate goals.
Jon Buxer
Due Diligence
Mr. Buxer has been performing Title Due Diligence since 1982 and is responsible for making sure SA’s acquisitions are safe from a Legal and Title standpoint. Mr. Buxer, in collaboration with CEO Peter Baer, pioneered the concept of institutional SFR Buy and Hold in the late ‘90s. Mr. Buxer advised to FHFA/FNMA on this concept and the resulting National “Buy and Hold” auction of Fannie/Freddie properties that followed led to the establishment of the Institutional Buy and Hold Platform. Mr. Buxer attended Occidental and Cal Tech (A.B./Economics) where he took part in Occidental’s acclaimed “Core” program. Fellow classmates in the program include Barack Obama and long time Washington Post Editor Steve Coll. Mr. Buxer moonlights as a musician and is a Gold Record Recipient. Mr. Buxer currently lives in Encino, CA with his wife and two children.
